SOCKS5 proxy for any app, not just browsers

SOCKS5 carries any TCP connection, so it works where an HTTP proxy cannot: desktop apps, messengers and custom clients. One login line, the same balance as your numbers.

// socks5

SOCKS5 vs HTTP proxy

  • HTTP proxy: built for web traffic; it reads and forwards HTTP requests.
  • SOCKS 5: forwards any TCP connection without reading it, so any protocol works.
  • Which one? Browsers and scrapers run on either. Other apps need SOCKS proxies.

SOCKS5 configuration

Use the same credentials in any client. With curl:

curl --socks5-hostname 203.0.113.24:7000 \
  --proxy-user USER:PASS https://example.com/

In Python, install requests[socks] and use socks5h://USER:PASS@203.0.113.24:7000 as the proxy.

SOCKS5 proxy for Telegram

Telegram has proxy support built into its settings. Add a SOCKS5 proxy there with the server, port, username and password from your Privasto credentials, and the app connects through it.

Which proxy types support SOCKS5?

Every type listed below. The same plan works over both HTTP(S) and SOCKS5, so you switch protocol without buying again.

Is SOCKS5 faster than HTTP?

About the same. SOCKS5 skips reading the traffic, which saves a little work; speed depends mostly on the IP type and the distance.

Do I need special software?

No. curl, Python, most desktop apps and browsers (through system settings or an extension) accept a SOCKS5 proxy directly.
